Whether you are a commuter from Council Bluffs and surrounding areas or traveling the interstate for business, Iowa DOT is committed to keeping you informed of impacts that may affect your travel. Iowa DOT is in the midst of a major project to reconstruct I-80, I-29 and I-480 in the Council Bluffs metropolitan area and has provided a number of resources on this site to help you get to your destination safely and efficiently.
The Program team has divided interstate improvements into distinct project areas. To expedite construction while minimizing impacts to travelers, multiple construction projects will be active at the same time. Motorists may also see construction activity paused while other areas are improved before construction begins again.
The maps below shows these project areas, provides approximate start and finish dates for construction, and a status of construction completed to date. To view information on the map below, click on the colored areas or nodes.
